Managing Data in Excel

Managing Data in Excel

Frequency, COUNTIFS, MINIFS, MAXIFS, Names, Lists or Dropdowns, Dependent Lists, Checkboxes

What will you learn in this course?

You will learn different ways to manage your data better. You'll be able to control data input by users using lists and checboxes, summarize it by creating frequency distribution & ranges, and make it easy to manage them using defined names.

Range & Frequency

You can create frequency distribution using two methods. First, using the FREQUENCY formula. Second, using the COUNITFS formula. You'll learn both the methods in this course.

In addition, you'll also learn how to summarize the data in a range.

Defined Names

Defined Names help you give a specific name to a cell. You'll learn multiple ways to give a name to a cell.

You can refer to a cell in another sheet by its defined name, making it easy for you to write formulas or create spreadsheet models.

Lists or Dropdowns

Lists help in providing a value to the cell by selecting one of the many options available. You'll learn three ways of creating simple lists.

In addition, you'll also learn two ways of creating dependent lists, where the content of one list depdends on the value selected in another.

How will this course help you?

Managing data is an essential step before you begin analysis. In this course, you will learn multiple ways to manage data input and use the available data better.

You'll be able to summarize data by creating frequency tables. You would also learn how to present your data in ranges.

You will learn how to create these using simple formulas, and by using the dynamic arrays method.

Defined names are an essential tool for creating extensive spreadsheet models. In case you refer to a few cells repeatedly within a workbook, then defined names will simplify writing formulas.

You will also be able to reduce complexities in collaborative working by writing easy-to-understand formulas using defined names.

It is difficult to maintain data consistency while working collaboratively on spreadsheets. Lists will allow you to manage data input, therefore bringing in consistency.

Dependent lists will help you manage complex scenarios and level-up data capture in your spreadsheets significantly.

Using checkboxes, you could provide compact selection options and significantly improve the aesthetics of your spreadsheets.
